Ten 17 - Essex Radio

Head of Commercial and Programming Production - 1997-99

Presenting The Evening Show on Ten 17 with the nature of local radio stations, Gavin was also involved in many aspects of production behind the scenes. He got involved in all aspects of the radio station and listed below are some highlights:


  • Gavin helped out voluntary at Ten 17 whilst at college on a Saturday Sports Show called Megasport, he then helped out on other shows like Drive and came up with competition ideas for Promotions. He then moved on to making commercials part time whilst at college.

  • Managed In-House Commercial Production, producing quality adverts for local clients. This led to producing and voicing production for Essex FM, Oasis FM, Vibe FM and Breeze.

  • Produced many live roadshows, OBs, concert shows, and packages for The Daytime Show.

  • In charge of programming production, including re-launching the stationís format with new production and a package of around 100 jingles. Station had higher listening figures.

  • Selected to work with groupís upper management and directors on the application for a new radio station and prepared documents for The Radio Authority.

  • Maintained and produced Timeout, well respected Whatís On Guide.

  • Managed and produced Noel Edmonds April Fool that received a great mass of publicity.

  • Co-ordinated school projects involving work experience and studio tours, (for sister station Oasis FM too).

  • Produced and researched features and interviews with local issues for The Daytime Show.

  • Used Selector to programme playlist. Liaised closely with record companies.
