Promax 2011 Conference

Session Co-Producer - November 2011

'Don't Mention The 'C Word' Session Team

Promax UK is the massive industry body for TV marketing and creative. Every year there is a 2 day conference. In 2011 it took place at the Millennium Conference Centre, South Kensington on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th November.
Being part of the industry, Gavin is part of the Conference Committee (which is voluntary) and for this year Gavin co-produced a session - Don’t Mention The 'C Word', which enlightened the delegates on the use of continuity in campaigns and how it can be part of the ‘TV Toolbox’ in promotion and television presentation.

Also on this team were Chris Jones (Sky Creative), Mark Ashby (Channel 4) and Matt Legg (Sky Creative).

Within Gavin’s work on this session was to conduct and edit interviews with channel controllers, who spoke about what continuity meant to them and its importance. Gavin interviewed Zai Bennett (Controller, BBC Three), Stuart Murphy (Sky 1 director and entertainment commissioner, BSkyB), Jeff Ford (Director of Programmes, Channel 5), Tim Hughes (On Air Marketing Director, Discovery Networks Europe), and Dan Brooke (Director of Marketing, Channel 4). During the session he directed the technical aspect of the show and read out live tweets at the end!

As well as the hour long session itself, at the conference there was a stand with a studio set up where delegates could 'have a go' at being a continuity announcer. Gavin then produced these to be used in the live session.
